1 | Pivotal Platform Architect | Responsibility: - Monitor and manage cluster utilization and performance - Patch, install, maintain, and manage resources (hardware) on Pivotal HD - Alert/Advice on cluster growth, applications, and deployment patterns - Troubleshoot issues across the Pivotal Big Data Suite ecosystem - Automate job monitoring, resource allocation, etc. for the whole Pivotal Big Data Suite platform - Manage security for HDFS - ensure user access controls, data protection, etc. Essential requirements: - Experienced in Linux/Unix administration - Deep experience in Hadoop and other related technologies (e.g. NoSQL databases, free-text search engines, streams processing, etc.) - Knowledgeble with data warehouse and RDBMS technologies (Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, Teradata) - Experience helping manage and run a production infrastructure (24X7) - Good verbal and written communication skills - 5 years experience administering production environments - BS in computer science of related field Preferred skills and experience: - Experience with large data sets and their associated challenges - Experience with SQL Server, Teradata, Oracle - Strong Experience with Pivotal HD -- Familiarity with networking components, protocols, challenges, and solutions -- Experience with Hadoop-related technologies Hive, Pig, Flume, Sqoop, Spring, etc -- Experience in implementation of storage standards - storage structure, parquet/sequence files, compressions (gzip,bzip,lzo,snappy) | OPEN | 3/15/2015 | 12/31/2015 | |
