Job Summary: In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose or primary objective of this job. Responsible for the analysis, development, modification, installation, testing and maintenance of operating systems software. Evaluates vendor supplied software packages and makes recommendations to IT management. Modifies and/or debugs vendor-supplied utilities and packages. Modifies, installs and prepares technical documentation for system software applications. Diagnoses, isolates and de-bugs software problems and performs problem resolution. Monitors systems capacity and performance, plans and executes disaster recovery procedures and provides Tier 2 technical support. Works closely with customers, business analysts, and team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. These solutions must be aligned with business and IT strategies and comply with the organization's architectural standards. Makes recommendations towards the development of new code or reuse of existing code. Responsibilities may also include participation in component and data architecture design, performance monitoring, product evaluation and buy versus build recommendations. In addition to the responsibilities of an application engineer, the senior level position acts as a mentor and oversees the rest of the team members. Manages service queue and responds to customer's requests by assessing the work load, prioritizing and assigning the work load to the team. May act as a mentor to more junior team members.

1. Setup the end to end infrastructure required for e-Channel applications, which includes:
a) Design and document the infrastructure required for any new application or enhancement
b) Create requests for servers to the server team which includes details like CPU/VPU, Memory, Disk (Network/attached) and NIC requirements (they use both Windows & Linux servers, with majority systems being windows servers)
c) Create requests for (Inputs will be provided by the application architecture team):
i. DNS
ii. VIP, Load Balancing
iii. Firewall Request for ports required/Proxy rules
iv. Windows Group Policies, if required
v. Request AD Service Accounts
vi. Application Gateway policy requirements (using Forum Systems)
vii. Setup Splunk Forwarders
viii. SSL Certificates
ix. SQL Server databases Service Accounts with documented roles
x. SMTP
xi. FTP/SFTP
xii. Scheduled Jobs (SQL SSIS or Cron)
d) Setup Pre-Requisites like
i. Install IIS (or Apache, or Ngix)
ii. Install dot net (or PHP or JRE)
iii. Add additional windows roles (or start appropriate daemons)
e) Setup IIS
i. Creating Web Sites
ii. Application pools
iii. Virtual Directories
iv. Port Bindings
v. Host Names
vi. URL Re-writes [may involve a bit of Reg Ex]
vii. Setup SSL Certificates on the server 2. Deploy custom or packaged application provided by Applications team using a guide provided to Integrated dev, QA, UAT and Production Environment
a) Edit and manage Web Configurations (Managed in TFS)
b) Create and manage automated deployment scripts using batch files or PowerShell
c) Backup and Rollbacks (If Required)
d) Lead the production deployment calls based on steps documented and reviewed
3. Application Maintenance
a) Upgrade Packaged Applications
b) Deploy Updated Custom Solutions
c) Work with development in case of errors or warning in the log files
d) First level troubleshooting
e) Monitor and report Capacity and Performance of multiple systems
4. Participate in Activities like DR planning, setup and testing
Solid familiarity of systems design, .NET, and IIS, that would be minimum requirements. Best candidates would also understand Forum XML gateway.
Required Qualifications: Describe the minimum amount/type of education, knowledge, years of experience, specific skills and abilities required to perform the job on a fully competent basis. Include all required certifications, licenses and/or training.
■ Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
■ Minimum Experience: 3-8 years job specific experience
■ Certification(s): MCSE preferred
