The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is the lead agency entrusted by the people of the state of Georgia with the ultimate responsibility for the health of communities and the entire population.
The agency is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Technical Writer within the Division of Health Promotion, Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program.
The incumbent will be responsible for creating and editing technical documents, training materials and leading special project related to technology activities for the WIC program. The Technical Writer will clarify complex materials by writing assignment and organization per set standards concerning order, conciseness, terminology, and style. The Technical Writer will develop, format and edit materials to ensure continuity of style and content. They will collaborate with content contributors to provide diagrams, photographs, sketches, or charts to illustrate information and help in the layout of material for publication. The Technical Writer will determine detail and operating procedures by observation of development, experimental activities and production.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field 3 years of experience demonstrating technical writing, training development or project management in technology
Preferred Qualifications: Proficient skills with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point) Experience in Public sector or health related industry Experience working with word processing and electronic publishing software Experience working with industry writing style such as grammar, Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with multiple colleagues and stakeholders Strong judgment and creative problem solving skills, specifically related to change management and conflict resolution skills Ability to balance multiple projects, setting priorities with the proper sense of urgency and importance Excellent analytical skills with ability to create relevant reports for a variety of stakeholders Communication skills for interacting with personnel Proofreading and editing skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team |
