Title: Junior Data Modeler
Location: Cincinnati
The Junior Data Modeler must be able to:
· Develop data models to meet the needs of the organization's information systems.
· Create logical and physical data models using best practices to ensure high data quality and reduced redundancy.
· Learn and follow client's best practices for standard physical naming conventions and database coding practices to ensure consistency of data models.
· Evaluate data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies.
· Validate business data objects for accuracy and completeness.
· Understand and apply appropriate design principles:
· Discover and recommend opportunities for reuse of data models in new environments.
· Maintain a model repository using ERWin's Model Mart
· Generate accurate and complete data definition language (DDL) from ERWin physical models
· Synchronize physical models with instantiated databases, ensuring that database structures match their models
· Test all DDL before deployment.
o For relational databases
o For NOSQL databases
o For JSON files
o For XML files
The Junior Data Modeler should be able to (desired but not necessary competencies):
· Stay informed of the ways client uses its data.
· Understand and translate business needs into data models supporting long-term solutions.
· Maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models along with corresponding metadata.
· Maintain data integrity by working to eliminate redundancy, unnecessary replication, and attribute overloading.
· Have 1-2 years exposure to retail supply chain databases.
