Location: Chicago, IL

Qualifications and Education:

•  College Degree (Bachelor's degree) preferred or equivalent years of experience

•  8+ years' experience in technology development

•  Strongly prefer at least 7-8+ years' experience in Java application development and /or software engineering

 

1.  Technologies and Frameworks

•  Good knowledge of Java (Java8 desired but not required)

•  Required experience with Spring framework

•  Java persistence experience with JPA or Hibernate

•  HTML and CSS (strongly preferred one or more of the following e.g. HTML5; CSS3; CSS Image Sprites)

•  Object Oriented Design Principles

•  Good knowledge of JavaScript

•  Experience with JavaScript frameworks and libraries, such as AngularJS and ReactJS, etc.

•  Experience designing and developing microservices

•  REST API design

•  Understanding of SQL for SQL Server actions, with SQL best practices (for writing SQL statements)

•  Knowledge of Front End development concepts (ie. Responsive Design, progressive enhancement, minimal download strategy, etc.)

•  Knowledge and exposure to Liquibase database change management library

•  Application Server Experience such as Tomcat, JBoss or equivalent

 

2.  Software Tool Experience

•  Such as with Docker, or Maven2 (for Java build and container usage)

•  Design Patterns and Refactoring

•  Strongly prefer experience with JUnit or TestNG, and Mock Frameworks  for use in  Continuous Integration

 

3.  Preferred Process Methodologies

•  Agile methods and Test Driven development

•  Scrum methods, e.g. Kanban and story review for action
