Voter turnout regularly drops in midterm elections, and has done so since the 1840s. In 2008, for instance, 57.1% of the voting-age population cast ballots — the highest level in four decades — as Barack Obama became the first African American elected president. But two years later only 36.9% voted in the midterm election that put the House back in Republican hands. For Obama's re-election in 2012, turnout rebounded to 53.7%.

That's the reason why more voters have to be signed up; then they need to show up; and then they need to be willing to lose a day's pay in order to do what white americans are able to accomplish in 15 minutes.
Getting in line doesn't even mean you'll get to vote. Plenty of places close their doors no matter how long you've been waiting. Just depends on who is in the line.
Imagine having to live your whole entire life with the realization that the dumbest, nastiest greediest people on the planet get the goodies before you do!

In general in this country there are by far more Democrats than Republicans. But in terms of people who vote, the split is about equal. So you decide: are you asking from a voter standpoint, or a population standpoint of the whole United States?
Think about it this way, the Democrats identify with almost every single minority group: Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, poor folks, middle-class, young voters, and also other disadvantaged groups, and of course other whites as well. While Republicans only identify with white upper middle class to elite class individuals. (In general, I understand there are exceptions.)
Now after those statistics, which do you think equates for a larger part of the population? By far, Democrats. But for alot of those folks voting is not as easy as it appears, access to political updates and news is less frequent, and in the end their votes are less likely to be counted. That's why you see a more equal playing field in elections.
No wonder you don't hear Republicans advocating a 99 percent voter turnout! If that was the case, Democrats would win every single election. Republicans are just fine with a 40 percent voter turnout.

We can come up with lots of excuses, including the fact that the republicans, once again, left us a financial mess (Clinton & Obama). Nevertheless, when we could have done something, we counseled patience and compromise. The Asshole Party counsels more of the same -- bad results the last time? Let's try it again, we're smarter now.
