Job Description:Linux/Unix Support Specialist
Seeking an Application Support Specialist to work with our client in the education sector. Education applications include Blackboard, Degree Works, Banner, etc. Experience supporting these applications is a plus but is not required. The environment includes 8,000 students and 1,500 faculty and staff. This person will be working solely on project based assignments related to these applications, including updates, installations, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Implementation and maintenance of education applications that support the institutions core business processes.
- Interact with vendors to troubleshoot issues, extract data, transfer/connect data, etc.
Experience (7-8 years' experience with):
- Unix
- Linux
- Shell scripts
- Oracle
- Java (some Java, does not need to be an expert but needs to be update to do minor upgrades/changes)
- Any ETL tool is a plus (Talend is what the client uses)
- Working with vendors
- ERP systems like Banner, SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion, Compass ERP and many similar ERP applications.
Qualifications:
- MUST be able to communicate effectively with vendors and IT team members
- MUST be able to work on site 5 days/week, 9am-5pm with some flexibility for nights and weekends
- MUST be able to do a face to face interview on site with the team in IL
