Title : SQL Report Lead / SME
Location : Los Angeles, CA
Duration : 6 Months plus
Key Skills:
· Minimum 5 years direct experience developing reports derived from a SQL or Oracle database.
· Minimum 2 years involvement in IT-based projects as SME or lead.
· Extensive knowledge on PL/SQL, SQL, SQL*Plus
· Significant experience with SQL*Loader, TOAD, and Korn Shell programming
· Must have the ability to code complex PL/SQL packages, functions, and procedures
· Proven ability in overseeing SQL & Oracle databases of 500+ GB in sizes
· Design and develop the database based on established requirements, including modifying any existing SQL database structure as necessary
· Develop proactive working relationships with Providers and other managed care organizations in order to determine business and functional requirements and identify solutions to resolve needs
· Provide architectural database technical expertise to team concerning methods, procedures, and standards to be used during design and development phases
· Maintain application performance and scalability; focus on performance tuning SQL queries, table design, indexing, query plan analysis and SQL refactoring
· Develop technical documentation and operational procedures for areas of responsibility
· Create test plans, test data sets and automated testing to ensure all components of the system meet specifications
· Investigate and fix defects; pre and post-release
· Prepare and deploy complex schema updates, data migration and ETL scripts
· Enroll users and design system security
· Allocate system storage and plan future storage requirements for the database
· Provide technical consulting and respond to error reports, problems and/or questions
· Plan for backup and recovery of database information
· Follow and contribute to team standards and utilize industry best practices
· Hands-on experience creating all key database objects – Tables, Views, Triggers, Indices, Stored Procedures, User Defined Functions, Dynamic SQL
· Ability to troubleshoot/resolve complex database issues
· Strong database performance tuning experience in a RDBMS environment
· Strong general ETL / data integration experience
· Proficient in database modeling & design with a focus on performance and scalability
· Experience developing/managing large-scale databases
· Excellent organizational skills with the ability to achieve results within tight deadlines
· Strong customer service orientation
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Must have the ability to perform extensive root cause analysis of problem areas and recommend alternative solutions. Must be able to work in an environment where critical time constraints exist.
· Must have solid understanding of software development methodologies and be able to assess appropriate methodologies for the work assigned to the unit. Prior experience working with health care claims data from a managed care environment.
· Must have excellent communication skills, strong analytical and coaching/mentoring skills, team building skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse team members.
Preferred:
ü Healthcare HMO experience
ü 7+ years programming and data analysis experience in a health care setting
ü Be familiar with a major healthcare payer system such as Dell ICA, Gorman products, or ideally Trizetto QNXT or FACETS.
ü Have a working knowledge of QNXT fields, tables, and databases, and have some experience with QNXT Schema
