Job Description:
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead development team efforts towards successful project and release delivery; adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time and on-budget
• Collaborate with other IT teams to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain web- and desktop-based company applications
• Assist and support the Business Systems Team to collect and document business requirements, identify appropriate technology solutions, and prepare work plans
• Prepare development and project work estimates
• Prepare status reports and documentation on releases and critical application fixes
• Lead and/or participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code
• Plan and deliver the retirement of legacy applications
• Develop, refine, and tune integrations between applications
• Analyze and resolve technical and application problems
• Assess opportunities for application and process improvement; prepare recommendations to share with team members and department management
• Research and evaluate third party software products as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree (B.A., or B.S.) from a four-year college or university; preference for degrees in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Business
• 10+ years of experience in software development
• 3+ years' experience in a technical leadership position managing developers, setting work priorities, planning releases/sprint and emergency fixes within a dynamic work environment
• Strong experience of at least one SDLC methodology
• Experience in implementing and improving an SDLC within a development team
• Proficient with MS-SQL and Microsoft .NET 4.0+ MVC development using C#, ASP.NET, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX and CSS
• In depth knowledge and experience with core Microsoft .Net technologies including: WCF, EF
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of advanced coding techniques, query optimization and efficiency issues
• Possess a thorough understanding and experience with relational database design concepts, including normalization, declarative referential integrity and design patterns targeted to optimize performance
• Have sufficient SQL Server expertise to fulfill a mentoring role for team members, including the creation of coding standards and guidelines for SQL development
• Solid knowledge of MVC programming, version source control and bug tracking tools, preferred TFS
• Experience in code review and acceptance process in order to improve code quality and delivery
• Strong documentation skills to facilitate support of ongoing operational responsibilities
• Strong emphasis on unit testing and delivering defect-free code to QA
• Skill in building clean, reusable SQL code
• MCSD: Web Applications OR taking and passing Exam 70-486 (Developing ASP.NET MVC Web Applications) is a plus
