Job Description:
Mandatory Technical Skills
· Excellent understanding of Vertica architecture
· Expertise in vertica DB configurations - Installation, configuration, patching of Vertica and Management Console
· Cluster expansion and rebalancing
· Excellent understanding of best practices for data loading and querying
· Good expertise in Performance tuning
· Good experience in Data Warehousing
· Excellent Data modelling experience
Responsibilities include:
· Capacity planning
· Identify performance issues and make recommendations for resolution
· Analyze and enhance identified poorly performing objects
· Generate reports to identify performance improvement opportunities
· Verify performance metrics in the UAT environment before deploying code fixes
· Dimensional modeling including physical and logical
· Recommending for creating new projections based on the usage pattern.
· Use the database designer for projection recommendations
· Drop the unused projections to save the space and performance
· Publishing best practices for data loading and querying
· Work with vendor for tuning the database parameters
· Database upgrades
· Client upgrades
· Supporting P1 tickets 24/7
· Weekend on call support
· Automate the purging delete mechanism
· Managing Roles
· Managing Resource Pools
· Managing Users creation
· Reviewing the Back up strategy
· Monitoring the server and network"
· Hands-on experience in Python/Shell scripting
